Raft Design and Sacrificial Buffer Layout

Sharks attack the outer edges of your raft first. Avoid spreading your base into long or irregular shapes, which increase exposed perimeter tiles and slow down your movement across the platform.

Center Essential Workstations: Place crafting stations, storage chests, and vital facilities in the interior tiles of your raft. If an edge tile breaks, your primary crafting and progression items remain safe.
Build Perimeter Buffer Tiles: Construct sacrificial floorboard tiles along the outer ring. These absorb initial shark attacks and give you time to react and repair before inner structures take damage.
Reinforce Corner Foundations: Prioritize upgrading corner tiles first, as predators target these points frequently during approach runs.

Detecting and Patching Shark Damage

Preventing structural collapse requires catching shark approaches early and reacting before planks break completely.

Perform 360-Degree Visual Sweeps: After completing a crafting task or gathering materials from the water, use the camera to scan underwater and across the horizon. Look for shark silhouettes turning back toward your raft.
Listen for Water Triggers: Stop your current task immediately if you hear splashing or notice surface movement around the raft perimeter.
Move to the Center During Strikes: Step away from the edge when a shark strikes to avoid getting knocked into the water, which leaves you vulnerable and wastes time reboarding.
Patch Immediately from the Hotbar: Keep your repair tool or basic repair materials in an active hotbar slot so you can instantly fix damaged outer tiles as soon as the shark disengages.
