To clear high-tier stages in Magic Sort! across levels 2731 through 2740 (note that level 2739 is omitted in the walkthrough set), preserve at least one empty bottle at all times. Using an empty bottle as a temporary buffer lets you shift blocking top-layer liquids, isolate matching colors, and unblock lower segments without jamming the board.

Empty Bottle Management

Filling every bottle prematurely locks the board and prevents further moves. Retaining a single empty container gives you the tactical room needed to reorganize multi-colored stacks.

  • Maintain a Buffer: Keep one bottle completely empty to hold temporary, blocking colors while exposing lower layers.
  • Avoid Non-Clearing Moves: Do not pour liquid into standard mixed bottles unless the move directly frees a slot or completes a single-color stack.
  • Target Isolated Tops: When space is tight, move single-color top layers into matching containers first to open up an empty bottle as quickly as possible.

Assessing Container Priority

Evaluating bottle layers before making your initial pour prevents dead ends and conserves moves.

Bottle ConditionPriorityRecommended Action
Single Top ColorHighPour onto matching stack or into an open buffer to free the layer beneath.
Homogeneous LayersMediumConsolidate matching segments to finish the container rapidly.
Three Different ColorsLowLeave untouched until simpler moves free up necessary board space.

Focus on sequence moves that produce cascading clears. A cascading clear occurs when moving one color immediately exposes another color segment that can be transferred on the very next move.

Consolidating Single Colors and Managing Bottlenecks

In late stages like 2738 and 2740, dense color distribution requires focusing on one liquid color at a time rather than shifting multiple colors simultaneously.

  1. Select a Target Color: Choose the color that is spread most widely across top layers or appears most frequently on the board.
  2. Clear the Target Container: Move junk or obstructing top layers into your empty buffer bottle until the target color is accessible.
  3. Consolidate to Completion: Transfer all accessible segments of that target color into a single container until it is full.
  4. Use Cycle Moves: When progress stalls, move a blocking color into an empty bottle temporarily, make the required clear, and shift the blocking liquid back.

Before committing to a move sequence, inspect the very bottom layer of every container. Overlooking deep-seated colors late in a level can result in locked configurations that force a reset.
