To place characters behind environment objects or stop visual flickering in MiniMuses Studio Mode, adjust the Z-index (layer depth numbers) in the right-side asset management panel. Lower layer numbers place assets further into the background, while higher numbers move them closer to the foreground.

Note that MiniMuses is currently in Closed Beta for supporters, meaning features and menu layouts reflect the early access build.

How to Adjust Layer Depth and Fix Clipping

When you add a character model to a scene, Studio Mode places it on a default front layer. If the character clips through a table, desk, or chair, their layer value is higher than the object they should be standing behind.

  1. Select the Asset: Open the asset management panel on the right side of the screen and select the character or prop you want to adjust.
  2. Modify the Layer Number: Manually lower the character's layer value or raise the prop's layer value. Adjusting the Z-order by just one or two digits is usually enough to resolve texture flickering and clear up overlap.
  3. Handle Character Accessories: For character models with capes, long hair, or complex clothing, separate the front-facing and back-facing accessory pieces onto distinct layers if the model settings allow. Place back-facing hair behind the character body layer and front-facing hair ahead of it to sandwich the model cleanly between props.

Aligning Characters with Props

Once layer depths are set, adjust the character's position so their torso and feet match the base of the furniture.

  • Unlock Movement Layers: If a character or prop will not move, check the right-side menu to verify that the asset layer is not locked. Locked layers must be unlocked before you can change their screen coordinates.
  • Use Prop Anchor Points: When aligning a character with a chair or desk, move the prop into position first. Use the prop's central anchor point to snap the character into alignment, then adjust fine positioning.

Reviewing the Finished Composition

To test your scene composition without editor clutter, toggle the UI visibility off. This hides the asset panels, menus, and selection outlines so you can evaluate the static image for clipping errors or floating assets before saving your project.
