To craft set equipment in MU: Dark Epoch, acquire tier-appropriate set stones from the Set Treasure feature and forge them onto your orange or red gear. Set crafting functions as an overlay upgrade directly on your equipment slots. It preserves your existing gear enhancements, option refinements, and socketed gems while activating extra attribute bonuses as you equip matching pieces.
How Set Crafting and Bonus Tiers Work
Set crafting requires a compatible base tier of orange or red gear. High-tier set stones cannot be applied to lower-tier base equipment.
Once applied, pieces belonging to the same set tier unlock cumulative stat bonuses at two-piece, four-piece, and six-piece thresholds:
- Two-Piece Bonus: Increases baseline defensive or offensive attributes, granting flat HP, Defense, or Attack.
- Four-Piece Bonus: Unlocks combat stats, such as Critical Hit Rate, Damage Reduction, or Skill Damage.
- Six-Piece Bonus: Provides high-tier percentage multipliers, such as Final Damage Boost or Global Damage Mitigation.
Gathering Materials from Set Treasure
Set stones and set shards are acquired primarily through the Set Treasure feature using keys or diamonds.
- Match Your Gear Tier: Only spend resources on Set Treasure pools that match your current equipment tier. Pulling materials for tiers above your character level leaves stones sitting unusable in your inventory.
- Save for Milestones: Pool keys and diamonds to hit guaranteed milestones or pity thresholds rather than pulling sporadically.
- Synthesize Shards: Set Treasure pools drop both complete stones and shards. Shards can be combined into complete set stones via the synthesis menu.
Gear Set Types
Set equipment is divided into defensive armor sets and offensive weapon or accessory sets.
| Set Category | Equipment Slots | Primary Attributes | Main Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|
| Armor Set | Helm, Armor, Pants, Gloves, Boots | HP %, Defense, Damage Reduction | PvE boss survival and PvP damage mitigation |
| Offensive Set | Main Hand, Off-Hand | Attack %, Critical Damage, Penetration | Burst damage and faster stage clears |
| Accessory Set | Rings, Necklace | Global Amp, Skill Damage, Critical Rate | Sustained damage scaling |
Classes that depend heavily on burst damage benefit from activating initial offensive weapon milestones early, while characters struggling with survival should secure defensive armor bonuses first.
Recommended Crafting Order
To maximize combat power without wasting crafting materials midway, follow this sequence:
- Craft in Pairs: Because milestone bonuses unlock at two, four, and six pieces, craft two pieces at a time. Forging an odd piece grants minor base stats but leaves the milestone bonus locked.
- Target High-Value Slots First: When crafting defensive armor sets, forge Chest Armor and Pants before boots, gloves, or helmets. Chest and pants pieces possess larger base stat pools that benefit more from percentage multipliers.
- Complete Core Sets Before Branching: Finish your primary four-piece or six-piece armor set milestones before splitting materials into alternate sets.
Recycling and Transferring Outdated Sets
When your character advances to a new equipment tier, do not sell or dismantle your set equipment through standard inventory salvage windows.
Instead, open the crafting menu and use the Set Dismantle or Set Reversion function. This deconstructs the outdated set piece and refunds invested set stones or crafting essence. You can then use the recovered materials to offset the crafting costs of your next gear tier.
