Cooking with 100 Mystic Shells in a Gold Pot does not summon Generation 2 Legendary Pokémon in the global release of Pokémon Quest. Filling every slot with Mystic Shells simply produces a standard Special-grade Ambrosia of Legends a la Cube. The dish attracts only the original Generation 1 Legendary and Mythical roster: Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres, Mewtwo, or Mew.

Do not invest 100 Mystic Shells into a single pot. You only need one slot of Mystic Shells combined with other precious materials to achieve the same result.

Why the 100 Mystic Shell Myth Is False

The 100-shell rumor spread due to speculation that hidden Generation 2 data existed in the game's code, waiting to be triggered by an extreme ingredient requirement. In a Gold Cooking Pot, each of the five slots requires 20 ingredients, allowing players to cook with exactly 100 Mystic Shells.

However, Johto monsters such as Lugia, Ho-Oh, Raikou, Entei, or Suicune do not exist in the code of the global Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android versions of Pokémon Quest. The international release is strictly capped at the original 151 Kanto Pokémon. Visuals of Generation 2 Pokémon shared online originate exclusively from the mainland China edition operated by NetEase, which received regional expansions not present in the global client.

What Cooking 100 Mystic Shells Actually Produces

Putting 20 Mystic Shells into all five Gold Pot slots creates a standard Special-grade Ambrosia of Legends a la Cube. It does not trigger special animations, unique UI banners, or increased shiny chances.

The resulting Pokémon arrives between Level 90 and Level 100 with standard Gold Pot stat bonuses (+100 flat HP and +100 flat Attack). Individual values (IVs), Bingo Bonuses, and Mew attraction rates remain identical to a pot made with only one slot of Mystic Shells.

How to Use Mystic Shells Efficiently

Mystic Shells only drop from boss encounters on Happenstance Island (World 12), with Stage 12-Boss providing the most reliable encounter rates. Because drops are limited, preserve your shells by using the minimum recipe thresholds instead of stacking them across all slots.

Optimal Special-Grade Ambrosia Recipe

To attract Mew or maximize your odds for Mewtwo without wasting shells, use a Special-quality recipe:

  • Slot 1: 1 Mystic Shell (Iron Pot) or 20 Mystic Shells (Gold Pot)
  • Slots 2–5: Precious ingredients (such as Icy Rock, Honey, Big Root, or Rainbow Matter)

Using this distribution lets 100 Mystic Shells yield five separate Gold Pot Legendary rolls instead of one. If you only need legendary Pokémon as move-reroll fodder, cook in an Iron Pot, where 100 Mystic Shells can fund up to 100 individual cooking cycles.

Ambrosia of Legends Quality Tiers

Matching ingredients to your specific team goal prevents ingredient waste:

  • Special Quality (1 Shell + 4 Precious Ingredients): Required to encounter Mew; offers the highest attraction rate for Mewtwo.
  • Very Good Quality (1 Shell + 3 Precious + 1 Common Ingredient): Attracts Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres, with a lower chance for Mewtwo. Mew cannot appear.
  • Good Quality (1 Shell + 2 Precious + 2 Common Ingredients): Attracts only the Legendary Birds (Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres). Mewtwo and Mew cannot appear.
