To play the Pawmot and Miraidon ex deck effectively in Pokémon TCG Pocket, use Miraidon ex as your starting active tank to absorb early pressure while evolving Pawmot on the bench as your primary attacker. Because Pawmot awards only one prize card when knocked out, this setup forces multi-prize ex opponents into unfavorable trades while you build toward decisive knockouts.

Core Deck List

A Stage 2 line requires a tight list to maximize the consistency of your Poké Ball searches and basic draws.

Turn Sequencing and Board Setup

Your opening turns determine whether Pawmot can reach the field before your active position collapses. Follow this priority order during the opening phase:

  1. Deploy your opening roles: Place Miraidon ex in the active spot whenever possible. Place Pawmi onto your bench immediately to start your evolution timer.
  2. Commit your first energy: Attach energy according to board pressure. If Pawmi is in your hand with follow-up pieces, preserve energy attachments for your benched attacker. If you lack evolution cards, attach to Miraidon ex so it can retaliate.
  3. Dig for Stage 1 and 2 pieces: Play Poké Ball early to thin your deck of remaining Basic Pokémon. Save Professor’s Research until your hand is low to maximize the odds of drawing Pawmo or Pawmot.
  4. Transition to Pawmot: Once Pawmot is fully evolved and energized, pivot it into the active slot to take over offensive duties.

If you open with Pawmi in the active slot instead of Miraidon ex, use X Speed to retreat it to the bench without discarding valuable manual energy.

Prize Trading and Matchup Rules

Pawmot's primary advantage is prize economics. An opponent must knock out three single-prize Pokémon to win, whereas eliminating two opposing ex Pokémon wins the match for you.

  • Targeting opposing ex threats: Focus Pawmot's attacks directly into high-value targets such as Mewtwo ex, Charizard ex, or Starmie ex. Use Giovanni when Pawmot falls slightly short of a one-hit or two-hit knockout threshold.
  • Managing benched targets: Use Sabrina to drag an opponent's damaged benched carry into the active spot before it can be fully energized.
  • Conserving energy on Miraidon ex: Do not continue attaching energy to Miraidon ex once Pawmot is ready to attack. Reserve Miraidon ex as a late-game cleanup option after opposing threats are weakened.
  • Countering Fighting-type decks: Decks running Marowak or Lucario exploit Lightning-type weaknesses. Against these matchups, avoid leaving Miraidon ex active, as a single attack can surrender two prizes instantly. Keep your active footprint focused entirely on Pawmot.
