To optimize champion performance in RAID: Shadow Legends, prioritize proper primary stats on individual artifacts over set bonuses. A piece of gear with an incorrect primary stat will weaken your champion's output and survivability, even if it completes a four-piece or two-piece set bonus.

Primary Stat Priorities by Gear Slot

Artifacts in the bottom row—Gauntlets, Chestplates, and Boots—are the only pieces that can roll percentage-based primary stats (ATK%, DEF%, HP%) or Speed. Because percentage stats scale with your champion’s base attributes as they level up to 50 and 60, they provide far more value in mid-to-late game progression than flat numerical increases (like flat ATK or flat DEF).

Equip bottom-row gear based on the champion's role and stat requirements:

BootsSpeedUniversal (All Roles)
GauntletsCrit Rate / Crit DamageDamage Dealers
GauntletsDEF% / HP%Tanks & Supports
ChestplateATK%Attack-based Damage Dealers
ChestplateDEF% / HP%Tanks & Supports

Why Speed Boots Take Priority

Speed determines turn frequency in combat. For roughly 95% of the roster, boots with a Speed primary stat are mandatory.

  • Primary Rule: Always equip boots with Speed primary stats over boots that merely complete a set bonus.
  • Exception: Speed primary boots can be ignored only when building a specialized damage dealer for a go-second team strategy where turn order is dictated by other champion skills.

Gear Cleaning and Silver Management

Inventory space and Silver are core progression bottlenecks. Sell artifacts that roll weak primary stats to clear space and generate Silver for upgrading valuable gear.

  1. Identify Flat-Stat Fodder: Inspect all Gauntlets, Chestplates, and Boots.
  2. Filter Out Bad Main Stats: If a piece in these three slots has flat ATK, flat DEF, or flat HP as its primary stat, sell it immediately.
  3. Reinvest Silver: Use the Silver earned from selling flat-stat gear to upgrade artifacts that feature percentage main stats or Speed.

Evaluating Sub-stats and Set Bonuses

Treat set bonuses—such as Lifesteal, Speed, or Accuracy—as secondary bonuses rather than strict requirements.

  • Sub-stat Synergy: Select pieces where secondary attributes support the main stat (for example, Speed boots that also offer Crit Rate, Accuracy, or percentage stats).
  • Set Completion: Only finish gear sets if the individual pieces already meet your primary stat requirements. Do not break a build with high Speed and correct percentage primary stats just to active a set bonus.
