To clear the Magic Keep in RAID: Shadow Legends, neutralize the Magic Guardian's massive recurring Shield buff using campaign-farmable Rare champions who steal or remove buffs. Stripping this shield eliminates the boss's effective hit points and prevents her from wiping your squad with buff-scaled damage.

Magic Guardian Mechanics and Threat Priority

The Magic Guardian relies on defensive buffs to stall your damage while scaling her offensive output:

  • Shield and Stat Enhancements: Every few turns, the boss casts an active skill granting herself a heavy Shield buff based on her maximum health, alongside Increase ATK and Increase SPD.
  • Buff-Scaled Damage: The boss gains bonus damage for every active buff currently applied to her.
  • Minion Interference: The right minion applies Block Debuffs to the boss, shutting down your ability to place debuffs if left unchecked. The left minion provides extra damage and disruption.

Preventing the right minion from protecting the boss and removing her buffs immediately after she casts them are the primary objectives of each run.

Campaign-Farmable Champions for Buff Removal

You do not need high-end Epic or Legendary summons to strip the Magic Guardian's defenses. Several accessible Rare champions drop directly from Campaign stages:

  • Mystic Hand (Stage 5, Valdemar Strait): His skill, Contempt, attacks an enemy and steals two random buffs. Timing this skill right after the boss acts allows Mystic Hand to take the Shield and Increase ATK for himself, removing hundreds of thousands of effective health instantly.
  • Conquerer (Stage 1, Kaerok Castle): Brings a single-target buff removal on his A2 skill. While he does not take the Shield for himself, he strips it to expose the boss's base health pool.
  • Hound Spawn (Stage 8, Godfrey's Crossing): Delivers early AoE damage to thin the minions while offering an A1 attack that can strip buffs when booked and supported by adequate Accuracy.

Team Support: Defense Reduction and Turn Meter Control

Once a buff remover is in place, fill the remaining four team slots with farmable units that speed up wave clearing, decrease enemy defenses, and control the boss's turn frequency.

  • Warmaiden (Stage 9, The Deadlands): Her A3 skill applies a 60% AoE Decrease DEF on a three-turn cooldown when booked. Speed-tune Warmaiden so she acts before your primary damage dealer, cutting the boss's armor before your attacks land.
  • Diabolist (Stage 12, Brimstone Path): Boosts ally Turn Meter by 30% while decreasing enemy Turn Meter, widening your team's action window.
  • Armiger (Uncommon from Mystery Shards and the Market): Depletes enemy Turn Meter by 30% on critical hits with his A1 and deals scaling damage against the boss's maximum health with his A2.

Combining Diabolist and Armiger keeps the Magic Guardian from cycling back into her Shield skill once it has been removed.

Stat Benchmarks and Gear Priorities

Accuracy is mandatory for buff stealers and debuffers; if a skill is resisted, the Shield remains intact. Aim for roughly 10 points of Accuracy per dungeon stage level (100 Accuracy for Stage 10, and 150 for Stage 15).

Farming Progression

Avoid investing heavy Energy reserves into Stages 1 through 7, as their drop rates for Greater Magic Potions are low and Superior Magic Potions do not reliably drop. Save large Energy expenditures until your farmable composition can clear Stage 10 consistently on auto-battle.

Once Stage 10 is stable, farm the Greater Potions required for your core champions' critical early ascensions, then advance directly toward Stage 15 to maximize Superior Potion drops per run rather than overpaying in Silver to fuse lower-tier potions in the Tavern.
