To clear Level 237 in Sand Blocks: Drop Puzzle, you must form continuous, single-color horizontal bands that span unbroken from the left wall directly to the right wall. The level fails if rising sand crosses the upper danger boundary. Prioritize anchoring your first shapes against the lower corners to create flat terraces, route off-color pieces away from active channels, and clear the widest horizontal layers immediately whenever vertical height nears the top ceiling.
Establishing the Opening Base
The opening drops determine whether the board remains manageable or tops out prematurely. Dropped polyomino blocks crumble into dynamic sand grains upon impact and slide down uneven surfaces. If your base layer forms sharp peaks, incoming sand will scatter across columns and break color continuity.
- Anchor the corners: Place your opening pieces directly into the bottom-left and bottom-right corners. Sand packed against the outer walls creates natural side barriers that keep subsequent drops from sliding outward.
- Level the floor: Drop wide, horizontal shapes across low dips to keep the bottom surface as flat as possible. A flat floor lets newly placed colors spread evenly across the full width of the board.
- Avoid central pyramids: Dropping tall shapes into the center creates a dividing ridge. Sand dropped on top of a peak splits and flows down both slopes, contaminating color paths on both sides of the board.
Color Routing Strategies
Level 237 regularly cycles through multiple contrasting colors, including yellow, blue, magenta, and green. A color clear only registers when matching sand connects both side walls. When an incoming shape does not match your active clearing line, manage placement using one of three supported methods:
| Drop Strategy | Primary Benefit | Risk or Trade-Off |
|---|---|---|
| Monochrome Stacking | Concentrates single-color sand for an immediate wall-to-wall line clear. | Fills the board quickly if the piece queue switches to off-colors. |
| Split-Zone Partitioning | Dedicates board halves to separate colors until a bridging piece arrives. | Allows grains to slide across center boundaries on steep angles. |
| Sacrificial Edge Drops | Routes unwanted colors into outer corners away from the main clearing floor. | Temporarily narrows usable playing width until that corner clears. |
If you receive an off-color piece while working on a main horizontal connection, dump it into an outer corner. Keep the central floor reserved for the matching color so the sand can bridge the gap between both walls cleanly.
Mid-Stage Recovery and Preventing Top-Outs
When mismatched drops cause the sand pile to rise past the midpoint of the board, stop preparing complex multi-row setups and switch to volume reduction:
- Target the widest color layer: Scan the board for the color that already covers the largest horizontal distance, even if the band is thin. Direct incoming matching pieces into that color's remaining gaps to dissolve the line and drop the entire stack downward.
- Flatten steep peaks: If uneven mounds threaten the upper boundary, drop flat horizontal pieces on top of the crests. The impact and settling physics force the loose mound to slide outward and level off, creating vertical clearance below the top-out line.
Triggering Cascading Clears
Finishing Level 237 requires clearing accumulated sand volume before running out of space. You can accelerate your progress by setting up cascading clears:
- Pre-align upper layers: When assembling a primary clear on the bottom row, check the color resting directly on top of it. If that secondary color already forms an unbroken band across the board width, dissolving the bottom layer drops the upper band into place for an immediate second clear without spending an additional piece.
- Wait for sand to settle: Allow the physical settling animation of each drop to finish before placing the next block. Dropping pieces while loose sand is still shifting can redirect incoming grains away from your intended target column.

I wish I had read this before upgrading the wrong thing.
Nice guide. I am checking the other Sand Blocks: Drop Puzzle articles next.
This helped me understand strategy much better.
The explanation is clear, especially for beginners.
