To beat Level 267 in Sand Blocks: Drop Puzzle, keep the sand surface flat, prevent piles from reaching the top danger line, and build continuous horizontal color lines from wall to wall. Shapes remain rigid while falling, but they disintegrate into loose grains the moment they touch the floor or settled sand. Managing where those grains roll determines whether you clear lines or clutter the board.
Stabilizing the Board Surface
Piles in the center create steep slopes that cause subsequent drops to split and roll uncontrollably toward the outer borders. If a piece crumbles on a sharp peak, its grains scatter into adjacent valleys, breaking existing color setups.
- Target hollows and valleys: Drop pieces directly into low points across the board. Valleys contain sand and keep the color concentrated in one area.
- Rotate pieces horizontally: Flatten wide shapes before dropping them over uneven mounds to level out peaks.
- Prevent center buildup: Avoid stacking vertical shapes in the middle columns so newly dropped grains do not slide sideways into unrelated colors.
| Board Threat | Mechanical Consequence | Immediate Countermeasure |
|---|---|---|
| Central Peak | Loose sand cascades down slopes into side lanes | Drop flat, rotated blocks across the crest to flatten it |
| Color Contamination | Stray grains break single-color continuity | Route mismatched pieces toward the outer flanks |
| Top Danger Line | Sand buildup triggers an instant defeat | Clear any immediate line to reclaim vertical room |
Forming Unbroken Color Clears
A line clear only triggers when a single matching color forms an unbroken path spanning the entire width of the board from the left wall to the right wall. A single foreign grain or empty gap will prevent the clear from activating.
- Reserve the flanks: Group incoming colors on specific sides of the board rather than scattering them across the central area.
- Bridge the center: Use matching wide pieces to connect colors through the middle before the outer sides grow too high.
- Seal the edges: Sand settles outward near boundaries; use this natural flow to press final grains firmly against the walls.
- Trigger downward collapses: When a bottom row clears, sand resting above drops straight down, allowing pre-stacked colors to settle and complete chained clears.
Drop Priority for Every Turn
To prevent the board from overflowing near the upper boundary, assess every incoming shape using this decision sequence:
- Execute immediate clears: If an incoming block can complete a wall-to-wall single-color line, rotate it to maximize surface contact and drop it into that row immediately.
- Fill deep depressions: If no line clear is available, steer the block into the lowest dip on the field to flatten the terrain.
- Dump off-colors along the outer walls: If a piece does not match the active colors on the floor and cannot level the field, drop it against the lowest outer edge to keep central lanes clear.

The explanation is clear, especially for beginners.
Good guide for Sand Blocks: Drop Puzzle players. The base building part was useful.
This helped me understand base building much better.
I tried this today and it worked better than my old setup.
