To clear Levels 40, 41, and 42 in Sand Blocks: Drop Puzzle, you must maintain low board elevation by building continuous, single-color horizontal lines that touch both the left and right walls. Solid blocks dissolve into granular sand upon contact with the floor or existing piles, rolling down slopes at roughly 45-degree angles into open valleys. If different colors mix across a horizontal layer, the row will not clear.

Beating this stretch requires flattening terrain early, isolating unusable colors against the side borders, and dropping blocks directly into low points to avoid forming steep central mounds.

How to Clear Level 40

Level 40 requires establishing a level foundation across the board floor to prevent sand from forming a central peak. When sand mounds in the middle, newly dropped pieces slide out toward the boundaries, splitting their volume and ruining horizontal connections.

  1. Drop wide pieces down the center: Place your initial horizontal blocks along the central axis to fill the lowest floor sections and create a level base.
  2. Bank off-colors against the borders: When receiving a color that cannot bridge the current floor layer, rotate and drop it directly against the left or right wall to keep the center clear.
  3. Fill side dips before triggering a clear: Because sand slopes downward from peaks, drops placed near the edges require extra volume to make firm contact with the boundary wall.
  4. Finish one color layer at a time: Focus all center placements on completing the lowest active color until it triggers a clear.

How to Clear Level 41

Level 41 introduces irregular piece shapes, such as sharp L-angles and jagged blocks, which frequently cause color fragmentation. Scattering small fragments of a secondary color across an incomplete line will trap that line beneath an inert layer.

  • Aim for the lowest valleys: Drop incoming blocks directly into deep depressions instead of onto existing mounds. Placing blocks on peaks increases slope angles and scatters grains uncontrollably, while dropping into valleys levels the surface.
  • Abandon contaminated lines: If an off-color fragment cuts across an incomplete clearing lane, do not pile more of the original color on top. Instead, treat the contaminated layer as the new floor and build your next left-to-right bridge immediately above it.

How to Clear Level 42

Level 42 increases drop speed and alternates piece colors rapidly. Attempting to clear one isolated row at a time will cause the board to top out. Instead, divide the board into zones and prepare multi-layer cascading collapses.

Stage PhasePrimary ObjectivePlacement FocusCritical Mistake to Avoid
Early GameBroad base coverageCenter-to-edge levelingLetting center peaks reach mid-board height
Mid GameMulti-color stackingDistinct left, center, and right zonesMixing colors across horizontal rows
End GameCascading chain clearsValley drops on matching colorsPanic-dropping mismatched pieces into the center

Stack matching colors in distinct vertical sectors until a matching piece arrives to complete the horizontal bridge. When the bottom line clears, the upper layers drop straight down. If the sand above was kept unmixed, the falling grains settle immediately into secondary line clears.

Recovering from High Board Elevation

When sand stacks into the upper third of the playfield, limited vertical clearance prevents pieces from rotating or sliding across slopes.

If the board approaches the top boundary:

  1. Stop building bottom-layer bridges.
  2. Identify the highest visible color band near the ceiling.
  3. Drop matching sand directly onto that top layer to force an immediate high-elevation clear.

Clearing the top band does not empty the lower board, but it removes immediate ceiling pressure and restores the clearance needed to level the lower foundation.
