To alter your avatar's permanent stature in Sky: Children of the Light, you must consume a Permanent Resizing Potion. Because every potion rolls a randomized scale value ranging from tall to short, the community refers to rerolling heights repeatedly as "height gambling." To avoid getting stuck at an undesirable height or draining your currency, stock at least five to ten potions before you start, establish a static measurement baseline, and stop rolling once you hit an acceptable threshold.

How Permanent Resizing Potions Work

Unlike temporary Huge or Tiny spells that expire after ten minutes, a Permanent Resizing Potion alters your avatar's baseline model scale indefinitely. Drinking the potion triggers a brief transformation animation before locking in your new height.

The outcome depends entirely on random generation:

  • Drinking a potion does not guarantee growth if you want to be taller, nor does it guarantee shrinking if you want to be shorter.
  • Each potion completely overwrites your current stature. You cannot revert to your previous scale if a new roll turns out worse.
  • Extreme values—the tallest and shortest possible natural tiers—appear less frequently than average middle-tier heights.

If you only want a tiny character, consider the Chibi Mask first. Equipping the Chibi Mask provides an immediate, fixed miniature size without consuming potions. The primary practical reason to spend potions rolling for natural shortness is to keep a small stature while equipping other cosmetic masks.

Where to Get Resizing Potions

Permanent resizing potions cannot be bought with standard white candles. Acquiring them requires Ascended Candles (AC), which you collect by completing the Eye of Eden or clearing Red Shard events:

  • Spirit Blessing Nodes: Unlocking mystery spell nodes in standard constellation spirit trees or visiting Traveling Spirit trees can drop random permanent resize potions alongside other spells.
  • Spell Shops: Rotating shops in the Forgotten Ark and Aviary Village periodically stock resize potions for Ascended Candles.
  • Event and Seasonal Shops: Certain seasonal vendors and limited-time events offer spell packs that include resize draughts.

Because obtaining potions costs Ascended Candles, never attempt height gambling with only one or two potions in your inventory. A single roll can leave your avatar at an awkward height with no immediate way to reroll.

How to Measure Your Avatar's Height

Subtle scale differences are difficult to verify without a static environmental landmark. Before using a potion, establish a measurement baseline to track whether your stature moves toward your goal.

LocationReference LandmarkAlignment Setup
Golden Wasteland Social AreaDressing shrine pillar faceStand flush against the stone seam with a neutral stance.
Home SpaceOutfit shrine stone framesPlace your feet flat on the threshold stone without standing on slopes.
Aviary Village Dressing RoomInterior mirror pillars or doorway seamsUse the indoor lighting to avoid cape shadows across your hairline.

To get a consistent measurement:

  1. Equip a short, flat hairstyle without hats, horns, or large hair accessories that obscure the top of the head.
  2. Unequip bulky masks and switch to the default neutral stance to prevent your avatar from leaning or slouching.
  3. Stand flush against your chosen wall seam or pillar, position the camera horizontally, and take a screenshot of your baseline height.
  4. Consume a potion, return to the exact same spot, and compare the top of your forehead against your reference screenshot.

Safe Rerolling and Stopping Rules

Repeated rerolls can quickly consume the Ascended Candles you need for Traveling Spirits and permanent wing buffs. Follow these operational limits during every session:

  • Never burn your last potion: Stop rerolling when you have one or two potions left unless your current height is completely unplayable to you. Keeping a reserve ensures you are not stranded at a disliked size.
  • Accept near-max rolls: If your character lands within the top tier of your preferred height range, stop. Chasing the absolute boundary often consumes dozens of potions for minimal visual difference during flight.
  • Protect progression currency: Do not spend Ascended Candles on mystery spell nodes if doing so prevents you from unlocking permanent wing buffs from an active Traveling Spirit.
  • End bad streaks: If multiple consecutive potions cycle you through the same middle heights, stop the session and save your remaining potions for later.
