The Invisible Cape (also called the Capeless Cape) is an experimental cosmetic available exclusively within the public Beta test environment of Sky: Children of the Light. To obtain it, you must unlock the cosmetic node at the top of its designated spirit tree for 999 Hearts after clearing the prerequisite nodes with regular Candles and Ascended Candles.
Wearing the cape hides your cape mesh entirely while preserving your Winged Light, flight flaps, and flight indicators.
Currency Requirements and Gathering Hearts
The 999-Heart price tag is one of the highest currency thresholds tested in the game. Thatgamecompany implemented this high cost during testing as a cosmetic goal and currency stress test. Because Hearts cannot be bought directly with real money, you must accumulate them through social mechanics and spirit progression in the Beta client:
- Daily Friend Light: Collect Light fragments sent by active Beta friends through the friend constellation to forge partial Hearts.
- Friend Heart Trades: Spend three regular Candles per gift to send full Hearts directly to testing partners through unlocked friendship trees.
- Regular Realm Spirits: Purchase single Hearts offered across standard realm spirit trees using Candles.
- Beta Build Grants: Utilize any seasonal bonuses, testing allowances, or currency disbursements provided specifically for the Beta client.
Unlocking and Equipping the Cape
Once you have gathered the required currency, follow these steps to claim and equip the item:
- Access the Spirit Tree: Stand on the constellation platform at Home or Aviary Village and open your constellations.
- Clear Prerequisite Nodes: Select the spirit offering the cape and spend your regular Candles and Ascended Candles to unlock each node leading to the top tier.
- Purchase the Final Node: Spend 999 Hearts to purchase the Invisible Cape.
- Equip at the Closet: Head to any cape changing shrine or closet rack.
- Select the Item: Locate the empty or transparent icon in your cape inventory and equip it.
Your character model will immediately show an unobstructed view of your outfit from behind. Flight stars remain visible as glowing diamonds on your back, indicating your available flight charges.
Invisible Cape vs. True Wingless Accounts
In the live game, playing without a cape requires intentionally avoiding or losing all Winged Light. The Beta Invisible Cape functions very differently from a true wingless account.
| Feature | Invisible Cape (Beta Cosmetic) | True Wingless Account (Live Method) |
|---|---|---|
| Back Appearance | Visible outfit with glowing star indicators | Capeless back with default moth outfit |
| Flight Ability | Full flight flaps based on collected Winged Light | No flight flaps; restricted to walking and jumping |
| Winged Light Collection | Safe to collect Children of Light normally | Must avoid all Children of Light to stay wingless |
| Hazard Damage | Standard energy drain from rain and Dark Dragons | Sent directly to the pity room upon taking damage |
| Map Navigation | Unrestricted access across all realms | Requires friend carries or warps to bypass flight gates |
Beta Limitations and Live Server Status
The Invisible Cape remains an experimental testing item. Thatgamecompany introduced it to test visual clipping, outfit silhouettes, and platform rendering. It has not been released on live global servers.
The 999-Heart price tag was selected for the test build to limit rapid adoption during evaluation. If the developers choose to bring an invisible cape cosmetic to the live version of Sky: Children of the Light, the acquisition method, pricing, and release format may change significantly.

I tried this today and it worked better than my old setup.
Nice guide. I am checking the other Sky: Children of the Light articles next.
Can you add more details about strategy in a future update?
I wish I had read this before upgrading the wrong thing.
