To beat Ground War Challenge Tier 2 in Star Wars™: Galaxy of Heroes, run Jedi Knight Luke Skywalker as leader with Jedi Knight Revan, Grand Master Yoda, Hermit Yoda, and either General Skywalker or Jolee Bindo. Mod Luke with maximum offense and zero added speed. His leadership clamps the high speed of enemy Separatist droids to his own base speed whenever he takes a turn, letting your fast Jedi teammates run laps around the encounter.
Squad Composition and Mod Priorities
Luke acts as the speed anchor and primary damage dealer, while the rest of the squad provides turn meter cycling, survivability, and crowd control.
| Character | Role | Key Mechanics | Modding Focus |
|---|---|---|---|
| Jedi Knight Luke Skywalker (Lead) | Damage / Speed Anchor | Return of the Jedi, Repulse | Offense and Critical Damage; zero added Speed |
| Jedi Knight Revan | Support / Control | Direct Focus, Master Strategist, Savior | High Speed, Potency, Health |
| Grand Master Yoda | Damage / Turn Meter | Battle Meditation, Masterstroke | High Speed, Offense, Critical Chance |
| Hermit Yoda | Healer / Buffer | Master’s Training, Strength Flows From the Force | Maximum Speed, Health, Defense |
| General Skywalker (or Jolee Bindo) | Control / Damage (or Revive) | Furious Foe, armor shred, counter-attacks | High Protection, Offense, Critical Damage |
General Skywalker accelerates wave clears through heavy counter-attacks and armor shred. If your General Skywalker lacks high relic survivability, Jolee Bindo provides revive insurance through That Looks Worse Than It Is.
How the JKL Speed Clamp Works
Under Luke's Return of the Jedi leadership ability, all enemies have their base speed reduced to Luke’s current speed whenever he takes a turn. This debuff lasts until the end of the wave. Keeping Luke at his base speed ensures that enemy droids drop to that low speed floor, while your other Jedi—modded for maximum speed—take multiple turns for every enemy action.
Execute this sequence to establish control in each wave:
- Trigger Heroes Arise: Use this granted special ability on your fastest support unit (typically Hermit Yoda or Jedi Knight Revan). It calls all Jedi allies to assist, grants Luke 100% Turn Meter, and gives him an immediate turn.
- Apply the Speed Cap: When Luke takes that initial turn, the enemy team's speed is locked to his base stat for the remainder of the wave.
- Stun with Repulse: Cast Luke’s second special immediately to inflict Blind and Stun across the enemy lineup, neutralizing early enemy turns.
Never open a fresh wave with Luke's basic attack if Heroes Arise or Repulse is available.
Waves 1 Through 3: Setup and Buff Stacking
The early waves allow you to build persistent buffs before encountering boss waves. Wave 1 features standard B1 Battle Droids, B2 Super Battle Droids, and MagnaGuards. Prioritize eliminating B2 droids first to prevent reactive Turn Meter gain and squad-wide buff dispels.
- Distribute Master’s Training: Cast Hermit Yoda's buff first on Grand Master Yoda to boost damage scaling, then on Jedi Knight Luke, followed by General Skywalker.
- Maintain Tenacity Up: Keep Grand Master Yoda's Battle Meditation active continuously. Tenacity Up prevents B1s and MagnaGuards from landing Target Lock, Daze, and Offense Down.
- Control Ability Cooldowns: When only one enemy remains in Wave 3, cease using special abilities. Rely exclusively on basic attacks to defeat the target so Repulse and Direct Focus are off cooldown entering Wave 4.
Waves 4 and 8: General Grievous Boss Encounters
Waves 4 and 8 feature General Grievous and represent the primary failure points of the event. An unchecked Grievous can eliminate high-relic characters through protection in a single turn.
Wave 4 Strategy
Target General Grievous immediately with Jedi Knight Revan's Direct Focus. This ability inflicts Stun, Buff Immunity, and Marked, preventing Grievous from gaining bonus Turn Meter when his droid allies take damage. While Grievous is locked down, eliminate the supporting B2 droids and MagnaGuards before burning down Grievous himself.
Wave 8 Strategy
Wave 8 pairs General Grievous with Count Dooku and Separatist reinforcements.
- Target Grievous immediately with Direct Focus to prevent his bonus turn meter gains and area-of-effect attacks.
- Inflict Stun on Count Dooku using Luke’s Repulse or basic attack to mitigate Dooku's counter-attacks and ability blocks.
- Burn down Grievous completely while Dooku remains controlled.
- After Grievous falls, use Grand Master Yoda and Hermit Yoda to spread Foresight across the team, negating Dooku's Force lightning and counter-strikes until he is cleared.
Wave Transition Rules
Running Challenge Tier 2 on auto-battle frequently leads to wipes on Waves 4 and 8 due to mismanaged cooldowns. Follow these rules before clearing the final enemy of any wave:
- Switch entirely to basic attacks once an encounter is reduced to a single, crippled droid.
- Use Hermit Yoda's Strength Flows From the Force to top off squad Health and Protection.
- Ensure Luke's Turn Meter bar sits at 50% or higher so that an opening assist or buff from a faster Jedi immediately pushes him into a turn.
- Verify that Revan's Direct Focus and Luke's Repulse are fully refreshed before initiating Waves 4 and 8.
