To become Darth Revan in Star Wars™: KOTOR, you must ally with Bastila Shan atop the Temple of the Ancients on Lehon, eliminate the companions who oppose your return to power, and defeat Darth Malak aboard the Star Forge. Choosing this path commits your character to the Dark Side ending and restores your original title as Dark Lord of the Sith.

The Leviathan: Learning Your Identity

The path to reclaiming your identity begins aboard the Sith flagship Leviathan after finding your third Star Map. Following your capture and duel with Darth Malak, Malak reveals that your character is the original Darth Revan, whose memories were erased by the Jedi Council.

While dialogue choices on the Leviathan and the Ebon Hawk do not lock in your ending immediately, choosing hostile responses toward the Jedi Council and embracing your past sets up the turn required later on Lehon.

Dark Alignment and Mastery Bonuses

While the final alignment choice occurs on Lehon, accumulating Dark Side points makes Dark Side combat powers significantly cheaper to cast and unlocks passive bonuses at maximum corruption (alignment score 0):

Jedi ClassDark Mastery Passive BonusFocus
Jedi Guardian+1d8 Physical DamageLightsaber melee damage
Jedi Consular+50 Maximum Force PointsOffensive Force casting
Jedi Sentinel+3 Immunity: PoisonStatus resistance

Reaching full Dark Side alignment also provides visual changes, including pale skin, facial corruption, and an altered portrait in the user interface.

The Temple Summit: Allying with Bastila

The definitive choice to become Darth Revan happens on the roof of the Temple of the Ancients on Lehon (the Unknown World). Bastila Shan, having fallen to the Dark Side under Malak's torture, ambushes you.

  1. Reduce Bastila's health: Fight Bastila until her vitality drops below 50%, which pauses the duel and triggers a conversation.
  2. Reject redemption: Refuse all dialogue prompts that urge Bastila to return to the Light Side or remember her Jedi training.
  3. Accept her allegiance: Select the dialogue options agreeing to reclaim your throne as the Dark Lord of the Sith and taking Bastila as your apprentice.
  4. Kill temple companions: If Jolee Bindo or Juhani are in your active party, they will immediately draw their lightsabers. You and Bastila must strike them down to exit the summit.

The Beach Confrontation: Purging the Crew

Returning to the Ebon Hawk triggers an immediate confrontation on the beach with the rest of your companions:

  • Carth Onasi: Carth refuses to serve you and flees into the wilderness.
  • Mission Vao and Zaalbar: Mission refuses to join the Sith. You can either kill both Mission and Zaalbar in combat, or use Force Persuade to command Zaalbar to honor his life debt by striking Mission down himself.
  • Remaining Companions: Canderous Ordo, HK-47, and T3-M4 remain loyal and stay with your crew.

The Star Forge: Claiming the Mantle

After leaving Lehon, travel to the Star Forge to usurp Darth Malak. Bastila will use her Battle Meditation against the Republic fleet while you fight through the station.

Before facing Malak, access the computer terminals on Deck 2. You can spend 25 computer spikes to fabricate Darth Revan's Robes. This Dark Side-exclusive armor provides +5 Defense, +4 Strength, and +1 Force Point regeneration per turn.

In the final chamber, duel Darth Malak. When he attempts to drain life from the captive Jedi in stasis tubes, destroy or consume the tubes yourself using offensive Force abilities such as Death Field or Force Breach. Once Malak is dead, the final cutscene plays, showing Bastila and the Sith armada bowing before you as the restored Darth Revan.
