In State of Survival, you can access Genetic Recombination (Hero DNA) on a newly unlocked hero immediately without leveling their star rank. While the primary hero profile screen displays Genetic Recombination as locked behind high-tier star evolution, you can bypass this interface restriction by opening the Recombination menu on an older hero and cycling laterally to the new hero.
How to Bypass the Recombination Interface Lock
The game restricts access to Genetic Recombination only on the individual hero overview screen. The underlying Recombination laboratory operates roster-wide as long as at least one character on your account has the feature unlocked.
Follow these steps to access DNA slots on a newly acquired hero:
- Summon the base hero: Unlock the base card of the new generation hero. The character does not need any star upgrades, combat manuals, or skill levels.
- Open an older hero profile: Navigate to your Hero precinct or roster and select an older hero who already has an active, accessible Genetic Recombination menu.
- Enter the Recombination interface: Tap the Genetic Recombination tab on that older hero to open the DNA sample grid.
- Cycle sideways to the new hero: Tap the lateral hero-switching arrows on the left or right edges of the Recombination screen until your new hero appears.
- Insert and calibrate samples: Place your available DNA samples into the open slots and calibrate your attributes as normal.
| Path | Menu Used | Minimum Requirement | Access Timing |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard Progression | New hero profile page | High star rank evolution | Delayed until fragments are farmed |
| Interface Shortcut | Lateral arrows inside DNA menu | Base hero unlocked + one older hero with DNA | Immediate upon hero unlock |
DNA Stat Priorities and Calibration Limits
Bypassing the menu lock allows you to activate base DNA slots, but it does not unlock advanced slots that have mechanical hero-evolution requirements. Any slot on the grid that explicitly requires a specific evolution stage remains locked until you meet that milestone.
When assigning and refining samples on an early-stage hero, prioritize attributes based on your role and available inventory:
- Target combat multipliers: Focus sample rolls on Troop Lethality and Troop Health alongside specific troop type stats (Infantry, Rider, or Hunter). These percentages provide greater combat value during PvP rallies, Settlement Defense, and State vs. State clashes than flat stats.
- Settle on baseline grades: Avoid rolling repeatedly for top-tier gold attributes on a freshly unlocked hero if your sample reserves are low. Securing purple or standard gold combat rolls across all accessible slots provides immediate power without exhausting lab tokens.
- Specialize by march composition: Reserve heavy sample investments for new generation heroes that match your account's primary troop focus or designated rally march.
