To complete an Archer-only challenge run in Stick War: Saga, you must immediately take manual control of your Archer squad, move continuously backward while firing, and funnel all gold into Miner gathering speed and Archer stats. Because Archers have low health and lack a frontline shield, relying on automatic AI control will cause your squad to be overwhelmed quickly by incoming melee units.

Manual Kiting Techniques

Manual kiting—moving your units away from enemies while shooting—is the core survival mechanic of a mono-Archer army.

  • Shoot-and-Scoot: Manually pull your Archers backward after each volley to keep them out of enemy melee reach.
  • Attack Move Command: Use the attack-move function to keep your squad moving together while remaining responsive to nearby threats. Avoid static "Hold Position" commands, which leave your backline vulnerable to melee swarms and flank attacks.
  • Target Prioritization: When high-threat enemies like giants or fast armored units enter the field, select your Archers and focus all firepower onto that single unit to eliminate it before it reaches your formation.
  • Open-Field Defense: Engage enemy waves as early as possible in the open field. Retreating continuously buys damage time; if the enemy reaches your statue or base, your movement options are lost.

Resource Management and Upgrade Order

Restricting your roster to Archers simplifies your economy by removing the need for melee barracks upgrades. Manage your resources in this sequence:

  1. Upgrade Miner Gathering Speed: Maximize your gold generation first to maintain constant production capacity.
  2. Expand Archer Army Size: Spend incoming gold strictly on recruiting additional Archers to build a high-damage volley.
  3. Upgrade Archer Attack Speed and Range: Boost your Archers' attack speed and effective firing range to increase total damage output before enemies close the gap.

Wave Positioning and Threat Management

Because Archers are vulnerable to splash damage and fast melee rushes, maintain spread formations and adjust your movement based on wave composition:

Enemy Wave TypeTactical ActionPrimary Goal
Fast / Light UnitsIncrease frequency of retreat commandsPrevent melee units from closing distance
Slow / Heavy UnitsMaintain maximum firing rangeDelete high-health targets with focused volleys
Area-of-Effect / Ranged SupportStagger unit spacing laterallyReduce multi-unit damage from heavy hits
