To survive the custom Sicklebear Mod Army challenge in Stick War: Saga, stop building expensive frontline tanks and shift completely to high-burst ranged compositions supported by low-cost bait infantry. Sicklebear units possess large hitboxes, immense health pools, and wide sweeping melee attacks that eliminate melee groups in seconds. Winning requires continuous manual kiting, pathfinding manipulation, and strict gold conservation.
Countering Sicklebear Combat Mechanics
Sicklebears feature wide-arc area-of-effect attacks that punish dense melee formations. Traditional frontline choices like Speartons and Swordwrath fail because Sicklebears close distance quickly and resist knockback or staggering.
- Avoid Expensive Tanks: Do not invest heavy gold into frontline melee infantry. Sicklebears deal enough area damage to bypass armor and destroy expensive units before they can strike back.
- Focus Target Fire: Manually direct your archers to target the lead Sicklebear. Leaving units on auto-attack wastes high-damage salvos on enemies that are already near death.
- Relocate on Contact: If a Sicklebear enters melee range of your main group, immediately move your entire squad backward. Trading blows in close quarters guarantees heavy casualties.
Army Composition and Aggro Control
Because frontline units serve only to stall enemy movement, your core damage must come from ranged positions.
| Unit Strategy | Tactical Role | Implementation |
|---|---|---|
| Archidons & Mages | Primary Ranged DPS | Mass-produce archers and support magic units to generate steady single-target damage from safety. |
| Disposable Infantry | Pathfinding Bait | Deploy individual low-cost units along the flank to pull enemy aggro away from your archer stack. |
| Manual Kiting | Distance Management | Order ranged troops to fall back periodically, extending the time enemies spend under fire. |
Utilize enemy AI pathfinding limits by sending cheap bait units to the outer edges of the map. Sicklebears will path toward the closest target, allowing your core Archidon ball to continue firing undisturbed.
Managing Miner Economy and Wave Reinforcements
Sustaining your gold generation is essential during relentless modded waves. Losing miners quickly leads to a complete economic collapse.
- Prioritize Miners Early: Build and secure your mining economy during early wave phases to fund constant archer production.
- Cut Melee Spending: If gold reserves run low, cease all infantry production and spend remaining funds exclusively on Archidons or base defenses.
- Replace Bait Efficiently: Replenish cheap bait troops only as needed to keep the enemy pushed back, reserving main funds for your ranged line.
