To win campaign missions in Stick War: Saga, spend your opening resource pool on three to four miners immediately. Securing early gold income allows you to continuously replace frontline casualties and build counter-units before enemy waves overwhelm your base statue.
Establish an Early Miner Economy
Do not rush combat units at the start of a mission. Queuing combat troops immediately starves your resource generation, leaving you unable to replace units once early skirmishes begin.
- Train three to four miners as soon as the stage starts to populate your gold veins.
- Maintain your miner count to establish steady income while building your first defensive units.
- Use your gold stream to replace fallen troops immediately rather than letting combat waves push directly to your statue.
If enemy forces defeat your initial squad, a fully saturated gold economy ensures you can re-queue defensive units fast enough to hold the line.
Adapt Army Ratios and Unit Counters
Surviving mid-game enemy pushes requires matching your production to the opposing squad composition. Relying on a single unit type leaves your army vulnerable to hard counters.
- Melee Aggression: Train Swordwrath or Speartons when facing fast melee waves. Their health pools block enemy pushes and keep distance open for ranged attackers behind them.
- Ranged Waves: Deploy fast-moving melee units against heavy Archidon lineups. Closing the distance quickly forces archers out of formation and reduces their damage output.
- Late-Game Ratios: Build toward a composition of roughly one melee unit for every two ranged units. This setup preserves your primary damage dealers even if your front line takes heavy losses.
| Unit Role | Best Usage | Key Limitation |
|---|---|---|
| Melee Tank | Holding chokepoints and drawing enemy fire | Vulnerable to kiting by ranged forces |
| Ranged Support | Dealing sustained chip damage behind frontline | Low durability if frontline collapses |
| Anti-Air / Specialist | Countering flying units or heavy armor | High gold cost and slow build time |
Manage Statue Defense and Base Garrisons
Your statue serves as both your base objective and a temporary defensive shield during heavy attacks.
When enemy waves break your frontline, activate the Garrison command. This pulls miners back inside safety zones and draws your remaining troops to defend the statue's immediate perimeter.
Rather than trickling individual units into an oncoming wave to die separately, let the statue absorb minor damage while you queue a full counter-attack wave. Once a critical mass of troops spawns at the statue, push your force forward together to reclaim territory.
Capitalize on Attack Lulls and Adjust Build Orders
Campaign stages follow distinct difficulty spikes followed by temporary lulls in AI aggression.
- Counter-Attack Windows: When an enemy wave ends, immediately advance your units across the map. Aggressive positioning forces the AI to spend resources defensively instead of assembling a massive assault force.
- Adjusting Failed Runs: If a stage fails early, observe the AI's starting unit type. Restart the mission and redirect your early gold production into the specific unit counter needed to neutralize their opening rush.

This helped me understand strategy much better.
Nice guide. I am checking the other Stick War: Saga articles next.
The explanation is clear, especially for beginners.
I tried this today and it worked better than my old setup.
