To survive the opening stages of Takashi Ninja Warrior, rely on stealth executions to eliminate unalerted guards, limit frontal melee engagements to two-hit flurries, and use Shrines strategically to secure your progress. Rushing into groups drains healing charges quickly, while activating checkpoint statues locks in your route and refills your health at the cost of reviving regional enemies.

Executing Stealth Kills and Isolating Targets

Stealth takedowns eliminate standard guards in a single attack without consuming healing items or risking counterattacks. In early areas, corrupted guards follow fixed patrol loops along paths, bridges, and doorways. Sprinting toward them triggers detection animations that alert nearby allies and forces disadvantageous group fights.

To execute a stealth kill cleanly:

  • Approach walking or stationary enemies from behind at a standard walking pace.
  • Wait for the execution prompt to appear before pressing the attack input.
  • Target isolated perimeter sentries first so that a failed attempt does not alert an entire courtyard.

Stealth strikes bypass enemy blocks entirely. This makes them critical against armored variants whose vertical overhead slashes can break your guard and punish mistimed dodge recoveries.

Managing Shrine Checkpoints and Enemy Resets

Interacting with a glowing Shrine fully restores Takashi's health bar and replenishes healing flask charges. However, resting also revives all non-boss enemies in the area.

Always clear immediate hostiles before interacting with a Shrine. Activating the statue while being pursued leaves you vulnerable to attacks during or immediately following the interaction.

Shrine ChoiceImmediate EffectStrategic Trade-Off
Full Rest / ActivationRefills total health and replenishes healing chargesRevives all defeated normal enemies across the map
Passing Without RestingKeeps cleared pathways empty for safer forward explorationLeaves your health pool and healing charges depleted
Short-Loop ResetAllows safe farming of nearby guards for currencyForces you to re-clear enemies before reaching new ground

If you take heavy damage while learning an enemy's attack pattern, retreat to the nearest unlocked Shrine instead of pushing forward on critical health. Dying sends Takashi back to the last visited checkpoint anyway. You can use this reset mechanic intentionally: defeat two or three easy guards near a Shrine, rest to respawn them, and repeat the loop to stockpile currency safely before exploring deeper territory.

Spacing and Attack Timing for Frontal Melee

When stealth fails, disciplined spacing is necessary to win open duels. Takashi’s katana swings have recovery frames that prevent you from dodging mid-animation, leaving you open to counter-slashes if you overcommit.

Early enemies telegraph heavy strikes by raising their swords overhead or pulling back into a lunge. Once these wind-ups start, stop attacking immediately and dodge-roll sideways or backward.

Rolling around an enemy's swing places you behind their guard, creating an opening to land two quick slashes. Cap your offense at two hits, then back away. Attempting full three- or four-hit combos against an active target leads to damage trades that quickly exhaust your limited healing resources.

Dismantling Multi-Enemy Groups and Archers

Fighting multiple foes at once is the most common cause of early death. Mixed encounters often place ranged archers on elevated platforms behind melee swordsmen. Arrow hits disrupt your melee swings with hit-stun, leaving you defenseless against incoming melee slashes.

Use this sequence to clear mixed groups safely:

  1. Break line-of-sight: Step into the visual range of the front swordsman, then pull back around a corner or wall to lure them away from archer sightlines.
  2. Defeat the melee target: Dispatch the isolated pursuer using short two-hit counters in the safe corridor.
  3. Close the gap on archers: Approach the ranged unit diagonally or with forward rolls, closing the distance quickly to strike them before they can release a clean shot.

Scavenging Breakable Containers for Currency

Smashing ceramic pots, wooden crates, and urns provides an essential supplemental income of soul currency. These containers are tucked into corners, under staircases, and around shrine courtyards.

Standard katana strikes break these objects at no resource cost. Sweep each room for containers only after all hostiles are dead; container-breaking animations lock your character in place and can be interrupted by roaming guards.
