To get legendary (gold) equipment in Viking Rise, upgrade your Smithy, collect full sets of gold blueprint fragments, and synthesize crafting materials up to legendary grade. Crafting gold gear requires substantial resource conversion and long timers, so focus your resources on a single troop type rather than distributing high-tier pieces across multiple commanders.

Upgrade the Smithy

The Smithy is the building required to forge, dismantle, and manage equipment. Upgrading the Smithy unlocks advanced blueprint slots, provides access to higher-tier recipes, and lowers crafting timers for gold items.

  • Match Chief Hall milestones: Keep your Smithy level aligned with your Chief Hall upgrades to avoid halting equipment crafting while holding raw materials.
  • Maintain crafting queues: Assign village workers to keep production moving whenever your refined stockpiles are ready.

Collect Legendary Blueprints and Fragments

Legendary equipment requires complete blueprints, which are assembled from blueprint fragments gathered through competitive modes, elite PvE content, and shops.

Limited-Time EventsComplete ranked milestone tasksUniversal gold fragments

Rallying Niflung Leaders and elite summoning bosses drops chests containing random fragments. To target specific equipment sets without relying on random drops, spend your Arena and Honor shop tokens directly on targeted blueprint fragments instead of standard speedups or summon shards.

Synthesize Materials to Legendary Grade

Forging gold equipment requires four refined materials: leather, iron, timber, and linen. High-grade materials rarely drop directly, so you must fuse lower-tier supplies in the Smithy.

Viking Rise uses a 4:1 synthesis ratio:

  • 4 Common (White) materials combine into 1 Uncommon (Green) material.
  • 4 Uncommon (Green) materials combine into 1 Rare (Blue) material.
  • 4 Rare (Blue) materials combine into 1 Epic (Purple) material.
  • 4 Epic (Purple) materials combine into 1 Legendary (Gold) material.

Because one legendary material requires 256 common base materials of the same type, gather resources continuously from map tiles, defeat roaming enemies, and complete Tribe quests. Avoid spending rare materials on intermediate purple gear if your primary march requires a legendary set, as synthesizing those materials directly toward gold gear yields higher attribute scaling.

Focus on Troop Synergies and Dismantle Old Gear

Legendary equipment provides percentage boosts tailored to specific troop types: Infantry, Pikemen, or Archers. Crafting an unfocused mix of gear reduces your overall combat effectiveness.

  1. Match gear to your primary march: Check each item's attribute bonuses before crafting to confirm that it boosts the troop type of your main commander, such as an Infantry march led by Thorstein.
  2. Prioritize weapons and chest armor: Craft weapons and chest armor before accessories, as these slots provide the largest direct combat stat increases.
  3. Use interim gear: Keep blue or purple gear equipped on your commanders until a full legendary piece is completed.
  4. Dismantle spare gear: Break down obsolete equipment in the Smithy. Dismantling refunds a portion of the invested materials, which you can redirect into your next gold craft.

Time Forging Around Buffs and Events

Forging legendary items takes several days per piece. To maximize your returns and minimize speedup usage:

  • Activate buffs first: Apply equipment-related tribe buffs or kingdom titles before queuing a gold craft to reduce the base timer.
  • Save materials for scoring events: Hold your completed blueprints and synthesized materials until equipment enhancement or might-gain events appear on the kingdom calendar. Crafting during these windows allows you to earn milestone rewards, including extra blueprint chests and speedups.
  • Use targeted speedups: Spend equipment-specific speedups to complete items during events, saving universal speedups for research and troop training.
