To upgrade your city efficiently in Avatar: Realms Collide, prioritize your Town Hall and its direct prerequisite structures rather than leveling every building equally. Upgrading the Town Hall raises your march capacity, hero level caps, and the level ceilings of all other buildings.
Leveling low-priority resource buildings alongside your main hall creates progression bottlenecks, delaying access to higher troop tiers and larger deployments.
Focus on Town Hall Requirements
Every Town Hall level requires upgrading the City Wall plus one rotating secondary structure, such as the Archives, Hospital, or an elemental training ground. Plan around this requirement chain so you never stall your primary progression path.
| Structure | Upgrade Priority | Primary Benefit |
|---|---|---|
| Town Hall | Critical | Increases march queues, hero level caps, and overall building caps |
| City Wall | Mandatory | Direct Town Hall prerequisite; improves base defense |
| Archives | High | Unlocks combat tech, gathering buffs, and higher troop tiers |
| Elemental Barracks | High | Unlocks Tier 3 and Tier 4 Water, Earth, Fire, and Air units |
| Hospital | Medium-High | Expands wounded capacity to prevent permanent troop loss |
| Warehouse | Medium | Protects stored resources from enemy scouting and plundering |
| Farms / Mines | Low | Provides minor passive income; easily outpaced by map gathering |
Optimize Builder Queues and Speedups
Secure a second builder queue as early as possible through VIP progression or recurring gem contracts. Running two queues doubles your construction output and allows you to divide projects logically:
- Builder 1 (Macro Progression): Dedicate this queue to long-duration Town Hall requirements, including the City Wall, Town Hall upgrades, and high-level Archives milestones.
- Builder 2 (Micro Maintenance): Use this queue to cycle through shorter projects, such as elemental barracks, resource depots, and quest-mandated structures.
When using construction speedups, never consume them immediately after starting a project. Wait until your alliance members finish providing all available Alliance Helps. Each help shaves a percentage off the remaining project duration, saving significantly more total time when applied to a full timer.
Maintain Military and Research Structures
Upgrading your elemental barracks (Water, Earth, Fire, and Air) unlocks Tier 3 and Tier 4 units, which provide the largest direct military power jumps. High-level heroes cannot carry an army without corresponding troop tiers to back them up in rallies and open-field battles.
Keep your medical capacity aligned with your army growth:
- Hospital Capacity: Expand your Hospital to match your active deployment capacity. When incoming casualties exceed your hospital limit during base defenses or territory warfare, excess units die permanently rather than becoming wounded.
- Archives Timing: Time your Archives upgrades to finish alongside active research projects. Because research halts while the Archives building upgrades, running construction during idle research gaps avoids stalling your technology tree. Focus research on construction speed and gathering early, then pivot into unit combat statistics.
Minimize Internal Resource Plots
Internal production plots (Farms, Quarries, and Lumber Mills) yield low passive returns compared to active world map gathering and rebel encampments. Upgrading these plots consumes builder time that is better spent on military and Town Hall prerequisites.
Instead, upgrade your Warehouse. A reinforced Warehouse protects high resource reserves from being plundered, allowing you to safely accumulate the materials needed for expensive late-tier Town Hall and military upgrades. Rely on gathering marches to fund your construction pipeline rather than internal production.

Nice guide. I am checking the other Avatar: Realms Collide articles next.
The tips are practical and easy to follow.
This saved me time in the early game.
Can you add more details about base building in a future update?
