To get the most value from hero equipment in Avatar: Realms Collide, concentrate your high-tier crafting materials on your primary march commander instead of spreading resources across your entire roster. Upgrading an item to higher rarity tiers increases base attributes, unlocks extra sub-stats, and adds percentage-based multipliers that scale directly with your total army size and tech investments.

Gear Slots and Rarity Tiers

Hero equipment items scale across four standard rarity tiers: Common (Green), Rare (Blue), Epic (Purple), and Legendary (Gold). Each commander has dedicated equipment slots that provide distinct base stats and multipliers:

  • Weapons: Provide flat troop attack bonuses, element-specific damage, and skill amplification.
  • Chest Armor and Helmets: Boost troop defense, raise maximum health, and reduce incoming damage.
  • Footwear: Grant march movement speed alongside moderate offensive or defensive stats.
  • Accessories: Supply specialized percentages, including critical hit chance, counterattack resistance, or increased march capacity.

Forge and Upgrade Priorities

Funneling high-grade ores and blueprints into a single lead combat march yields better field results than equipping multiple commanders with intermediate gear. Use the following order when deciding what to craft and refine at the Forge:

  1. Prioritize offensive slots for attack leaders: For damage-focused commanders, forge weapons and accessories first. Higher burst damage eliminates enemy units faster and limits the number of skill rotations your army must endure.
  2. Prioritize defensive slots for frontline commanders: For defensive Earth or Water troop marches, craft chest armor and helmets first to stack defense and health multipliers for absorbing rally hits.
  3. Fuse materials before crafting: Combine lower-tier raw materials into Epic or Legendary components before starting a project. Crafting low- or mid-tier gear consumes completion speedups that are better saved for top-tier pieces.
  4. Dismantle retired equipment: Do not store obsolete Common or Rare gear in your inventory. Dismantle them at the Forge to recover base crafting materials, which can then be fused into higher-tier components.

Material and Blueprint Sources

Crafting gear requires dedicated metals, fabrics, and specific blueprints rather than standard city building resources.

Matching Stats to Hero Roles

Verify that an item's primary attributes complement your hero's talent tree and combat role before committing materials to forge it.

  • Skill-focused commanders: Select gear with skill damage boosts, rage generation, and march speed to ensure abilities trigger before opponent counters activate.
  • Garrison and objective defenders: Choose items that offer damage reduction and counterattack buffs. March speed provides no benefit inside a garrisoned structure, making raw survivability stats the priority.

Before starting a craft, check that you have the complete set of required blueprints and smelting catalysts on hand. Locking materials into an incomplete crafting path leaves your Forge occupied and prevents your primary commanders from receiving their stat bonuses.
