To defeat Elban at level 40 in Eternium, your top priority is breaking his channeled Blood Drain ability immediately by running away until the tether snaps or interrupting it with hard crowd control. Trying to trade damage while standing still will drain your health pool and fully restore Elban's vitality. Focus on kiting around the arena, avoiding his leap indicators, and attacking only during his brief recovery windows.

Elban Skill Counters

Elban rotates between basic melee attacks, a targeted leap, a life-siphoning channel, and periodic add summons. Use the following responses to manage each threat:

AbilityThreatCounter Action
Blood DrainExtremeRun straight toward the arena edge to break range, or apply a Stun, Freeze, or Silence.
Devastating LeapHighMove perpendicular to his path out of the red circular ground marker before impact.
Melee CleaveModerateKite backward and avoid standing directly in front of him outside safe windows.
Minion SummonsLow to ModerateEliminate adds with passive area-of-effect skills so they do not block your escape routes.

How to Handle Blood Drain

Blood Drain is Elban's most lethal mechanic. When he begins channeling, a red energy beam links him to your hero, transferring your health directly into his health bar.

Never attempt to out-damage this skill or drink a potion while the beam is active, as your lost health simply accelerates his healing. Instead, respond with one of two methods:

  • Snap the tether by running: Turn immediately and sprint in a straight line toward the opposite side of the battlefield. The beam snaps automatically once you exceed its maximum range.
  • Interrupt the channel: If your class or companion has an available hard interrupt—such as a Stun, Silence, or Freeze—trigger it as soon as the channel starts to cancel the ability on the spot.

Once the channel ends, Elban briefly pauses before resuming normal attacks, giving you a safe window to deal burst damage.

Dodging the Leap Attack

Elban periodically jumps into the air to crush your location, dealing heavy physical burst damage that can instantly defeat an undergeared hero.

  1. Watch for the red circular telegraph appearing beneath your character.
  2. Tap or swipe immediately to move out of the circle before he lands.
  3. Keep moving until the impact animation clears to avoid any lingering stun or slow effects.
  4. Reposition toward open arena space rather than corners so you maintain room to maneuver.

Managing Adds and Companions

Elban periodically calls minor adds into the fight. While their individual damage is low, they can body-block your movement when you need to sprint away from Blood Drain. Clear them using secondary area-of-effect attacks while keeping your primary single-target focus on Elban.

If you bring companions into the fight, disable their auto-cast settings so you can use their abilities manually:

  • Marcus: Save his stun to cancel Elban's Blood Drain startup if you are caught out of position.
  • Eileen: Use her vortex to pull summoned minions away from your escape paths.
  • Robin: Rely on his ranged damage to whittle down Elban safely from distance while you focus on kiting.

Gear and Preparation for Level 40

Mobility is the most critical defensive attribute for this encounter. If your character moves too slowly, you will take full damage from Blood Drain before you can reach the tether break distance.

  • Movement Speed: Equip boots and pants rolled with Movement Speed bonuses to ensure you can outrun his abilities.
  • Survivability Stats: Maintain adequate Vitality and Life on Hit on your gear to survive incidental melee strikes and chip damage.
  • Potion Timing: Stock healing potions before starting the encounter. Use them only after you have escaped a leap or snapped the Blood Drain tether, ensuring your recovered health is not immediately siphoned back to Elban.
