To farm Champion Level experience, gemstones, and crafting materials quickly in Eternium, build your Illusionist Mage around continuous forward mobility and persistent area-of-effect (AoE) damage. The goal is to clear Trial tiers in 90 to 120 seconds by grouping packs together with Blink and melting them with Blizzard while running ahead to the next encounter.

Core Ability and Passive Setup

Speed farming requires abilities that inflict lingering damage while your character continues moving through Trial corridors.

Active Abilities

  • Primary Attack (Frostbolt or Arcane Bolts): Use as a quick weave between mobility spells to trigger weapon procs and refresh offensive buffs without halting your run.
  • Blink: Serves as your primary movement and positioning tool. Use it to cross map tiles instantly, bypass hallway dead zones, and position yourself behind monster packs.
  • Blizzard: Acts as your main damage source. It blankets large zones in frost damage, slowing melee units and eliminating regular monsters while you keep moving.
  • Singularity or Time Warp: Cast Singularity to vacuum scattered ranged and melee units into a tight cluster directly under Blizzard. If you are clearing lower-tier content where enemies die on contact, swap Singularity for Time Warp to boost your attack and movement speed.

Passive Abilities

  • Fleet Footed: Increases base running speed to minimize downtime between room pulls.
  • Glass Cannon: Significantly increases damage output at the expense of Armor and Life. This defensive penalty does not hinder fast runs because monsters remain crowd-controlled or dead before they reach you.
  • Evocation or Power Infusion: Evocation accelerates cooldown recovery for Blink and Blizzard. Power Infusion provides large Power spikes when your spells strike dense packs.

Gear Configuration and Stat Priorities

Speed gear focuses heavily on Ability Rate and Movement Speed. Defensive stats like Vitality, Armor, and Life on Hit do not provide value in speed content and should be replaced with offensive and utility attributes.

Gear SlotStat PrioritiesPurpose
Boots & PantsMovement Speed, Ability Rate, PowerMaximizes base running speed between monster packs.
Chest, Helm, Shoulders, GlovesAbility Rate, Power, HasteLowers Blink and Blizzard cooldowns toward soft caps.
Weapons (Grand Magister Set)Damage, Ability Rate, Power, HasteProvides set bonuses to projectile damage and burst.
Belt (Belt of the Whirling Storm)Power, Ability Rate, Critical RatingEnhances Blizzard damage output across large monster packs.
Trinkets (Fire Lily or Talismans)Raw Damage or Power ProcsEliminates crit dependency for steady flat damage or burst procs.

Fire Lily vs. Critical Builds

If you equip the Fire Lily trinket, eliminate Critical Rating and Critical Damage entirely from your gear. Fire Lily removes critical strikes in exchange for a flat damage increase, allowing you to reallocate those stat slots into Power, Ability Rate, Haste, and Movement Speed. If you run a standard crit setup with a Talisman instead, maintain high Critical Rating so your Blizzard damage ticks crit consistently.

Trial Mob Pulling Strategy

Stopping to attack isolated minions slows your completion time and lowers your hourly yields. Drag multiple packs together before casting your area spells:

  1. Advance with Blink: Move along the main dungeon route, casting Blink around corners and through open archways to pull aggro from front-line enemy groups.
  2. Group the Packs: Once two to four packs are trailing behind your character, drop Singularity at a central point ahead of the trailing group to pull them into a single point.
  3. Deploy Blizzard and Move: Cast Blizzard directly over the vortex, fire a single primary attack to trigger weapon effects, and immediately Blink forward into the next room.
  4. Advance While DoTs Finish the Pack: Let residual Blizzard ticks defeat the trailing monsters as you scout ahead. The Trial completion bar will continue filling as you engage new enemies.

Boss Burst Tactics and Tier Selection

When the Trial progress bar reaches 100 percent, the Trial Boss spawns immediately:

  1. Lock Down the Boss: Cast Singularity directly on the boss spawn to limit movement, or activate Time Warp if equipped.
  2. Circle at Range: Drop Blizzard over the boss and use Blink to circle the perimeter. Staying mobile prevents high-damage boss attacks from hitting your glass cannon setup.
  3. Weave Attacks: Fire your primary attack continuously while circling inside Blizzard range to defeat the boss within 10 to 15 seconds.

Calibrating Your Farming Tier

Select the highest Trial tier you can complete consistently under two minutes. If your run times exceed two minutes and 15 seconds, lower your Trial tier by five to ten levels. Grinding a lower Trial tier in 80 seconds generates far more experience and crafting materials per hour than a higher tier that takes three to four minutes. Only raise your Trial level once your Champion Levels and Power let you defeat the boss without exceeding the two-minute threshold.
