To create customized avatars efficiently in the Early Access build of MiniMuses, establish your character's base body and facial features before equipping hair, clothing, and accessories. Setting proportions early ensures attached items align correctly, minimizing visual clipping and reducing the need to redo adjustments later in studio editing.
Setting Up the Base Character Model
The character creator uses tabbed panels to separate physical attributes from clothing items. Use the left-hand navigation bar to access tabs for facial features, hair, and body composition.
- Open the Body tab on the left navigation bar to pick your base template and adjust height and body proportions.
- Preview changes in the center window to monitor how scale adjustments affect item fits.
- Select facial structures and base features before moving to hair and outfit tabs.
If a clothing item does not line up with your character's frame, navigate back to the Body tab to adjust proportions directly rather than resetting your entire design.
Syncing Colors Across Outfits
Maintain visual consistency across multiple garment layers by using the built-in palette system instead of recoloring each item manually:
- Save Color Codes: Open the Palette tab inside the customization window to store chosen color codes in a temporary buffer. Apply these saved shades to hair and accessory layers with a single selection.
- Enable Color Sync: Check the Sync Colors box to match the saturation and brightness of your active color palette across different material textures automatically.
- Manual Tweaks: Because deep shadows and detailed textures interpret color values differently, check dark palettes manually after syncing to ensure even tone distribution.
Managing Asset Layers and Preventing Clipping
Clothing items and hair strands rely on a bottom-to-top stacking order. Items added later default to higher visual layers. When items overlap incorrectly or flicker:
- Adjust Stacking Order: Select the clipping item, open its sub-menu, and use the Layer Order buttons to move it forward or backward in the stack.
- Check Anchor Points: Accessories like hats and back gear lock onto fixed anchor points tied to specific head and torso models. If an accessory clips persistently, adjust your character's base head or torso shape.
- Change Preview Poses: Toggle your preview character into a neutral pose to isolate which body part or clothing boundary causes the visual intersection.
Saving Presets and Performance Management
Early Access builds can experience performance stutters or crashes when loading high-polygon combinations such as complex capes, long hair, and layered jewelry. Safeguard your work using the Presets menu:
- Name Unique Configurations: Assign distinct names to finalized characters in the Presets library to store slider coordinates and equipped asset lists.
- Export Character Data: Save your character files to your local drive using the export feature as a backup against internal save corruption.
- Create Base Templates: Store a naked base model with your preferred default proportions to skip initial sculpting on future projects.
- Manage Hardware Load: If menus stutter while browsing large asset lists, clear your cache, close background software, and avoid excessive high-density item stacking.
