To customize colors and navigate character assets effectively in MiniMuses Early Access, select the target clothing layer before applying manual colors, and let category loading icons clear completely before making additional UI selections.
Applying Colors by Character Layer
The color interface in MiniMuses modifies individual clothing items rather than acting as a global character recolor tool. Applying a color without selecting a specific piece first will fail to update the model.
- Targeted Selection: Click directly on the specific clothing piece or accessory layer you want to change before opening the color interface.
- Manual Color Adjustments: Use the manual color picker rather than standard presets to match hues across multiple items. Manual tuning compensates for engine lighting shifts that alter perceived texture saturation.
- Confirmation: Click to confirm your custom selection in the color window before closing the menu or switching layers.
Navigating Asset Sub-Menus
Specific accessory types and complex outfits are organized across nested menus. To locate items quickly, use the appropriate menu tier:
| Interface Location | Available Asset Types | Navigation Method |
|---|---|---|
| Top-Level Icons | Main categories (Tops, Bottoms, Outerwear) | Click primary category icons |
| Expanded Tabs | Sub-category clothing variations | Expand category tabs fully |
| Bottom Overflow Menu | Headwear, footwear, and specialized gear | Scroll to the bottom overflow area |
Resolving UI Delays and Render Glitches
Early Access UI performance can cause input lag or visual overlap when switching items rapidly.
Preventing Color Resets
When swapping large clothing categories, wait for the loading icon to disappear entirely before clicking new colors or items. Interacting with the interface during texture rendering can cause input lag or reset your selection to the default color palette.
Fixing Accessory Flickering (Z-Fighting)
If stacked accessories flicker or vanish due to rendering conflicts, reset the model depth:
- Remove the conflicting accessory from the character.
- Click the Reset view button to refresh the render camera.
- Re-equip the accessory to force the game engine to recalculate layer ordering.
Testing Layouts with Presets
Built-in character presets show how default assets interact without layer errors. Modify these templates one or two items at a time to test custom combinations. Save your progress regularly using the project management tool to prevent progress loss if an asset conflict occurs.

This saved me time in the early game.
Can you add more details about early game in a future update?
I wish I had read this before upgrading the wrong thing.
I tried this today and it worked better than my old setup.
