To beat Level 612 in Sand Blocks: Drop Puzzle, clear the board by building continuous, wall-to-wall horizontal layers of a single color while keeping the sand from piling up to the top border. Because falling shapes collapse into loose sand upon impact, rotate every piece to fill depressions directly rather than dropping blocks onto central peaks.
Board Mechanics and Clear Conditions
Level 612 requires continuous horizontal clearing to stay below the top boundary line. In Sand Blocks: Drop Puzzle, solid blocks shatter into granular sand the moment they hit the floor or another pile. These particles slide downward across slopes according to in-game gravity and friction until they settle into the lowest available gaps.
A line clears only when an unbroken band of one matching color extends entirely from the left edge of the grid to the right edge. Incomplete color bands do not clear. If a different color lands on top of an unfinished row, it buries the lower particles and blocks them from making edge contact until the top sand is removed.
Managing Terrain and Piece Dispersion
Central mounds are the primary cause of top-outs on Level 612. Dropping pieces continuously down the middle causes loose sand to spill outward unpredictably, forming steep slopes that funnel subsequent drops toward the danger line.
Use piece orientation to keep the board surface level:
| Drop Orientation | Sand Behavior | Strategic Use |
|---|---|---|
| Horizontal Flat | Distributes particles evenly over a wide area | Bridges shallow depressions and seals active color rows |
| Vertical Narrow | Concentrates volume and spills steeply to the sides | Directs sand into narrow crevices without scattering |
| Offset / L-Shape | Slides unevenly toward the lower side | Builds directed slopes toward the outer side walls |
Keep the board's surface flat or slightly concave. A level surface prevents loose sand from rolling across multiple columns, ensuring incoming colors stay localized where you drop them.
Rules for Edge-to-Edge Color Control
Avoid burying incomplete layers under new colors. To maintain steady clears throughout the level:
- Check both boundary walls before dropping a piece to confirm the active color touches both sides.
- Direct off-color shapes into outer corners to avoid polluting the central clearing path.
- Wait for the sand settling animation to stop completely before dropping the next piece so particles do not bounce into neighboring lanes.
- Do not drop alternate colors into single-column gaps, which seals mixed sand beneath narrow plugs.
Recovering from High Stacks Near the Top Border
When sand stacks rise near the ceiling line, immediately shift from building clean foundations to emergency reduction:
- Redirect drops away from high points: Drop incoming shapes into the lowest troughs on the board to avoid triggering a top-out game over.
- Target high matching layers: Identify the highest color layer that already has significant volume on your tallest mound.
- Connect to the opposite wall: Rotate matching pieces to bridge that specific elevated color across to the far border.
Completing an elevated clear instantly deletes that horizontal band of sand, lowering the peak several rows and restoring the vertical clearance needed to finish Level 612.
