To unlock the 13th cape wedge in Sky: Children of the Light, you must accumulate an active total of 250 Winged Lights. Reaching this flight tier requires an increase of 50 lights past the 12th wedge milestone (200 lights).

Because the static realms do not contain 250 children on their own, reaching this milestone requires combining a complete sweep of realm lights with high-difficulty trials and permanent Wing Buffs purchased from spirits.

Winged Light Sources for the 250 Threshold

Reaching 250 lights requires sourcing every available category of Winged Light in the game.

1. Static Realm Exploration

You must collect all static children scattered across the base realms, their seasonal expansions, and the Eye of Eden ascent path:

  • Isle of Dawn & Daylight Prairie: Clear the starting dunes and caves, followed by the Prairie Caves, Sanctuary Islands, and Prairie Peaks.
  • Hidden Forest & Valley of Triumph: Search the Forest Brook, Boneyard, Underground Cavern, and Treehouse. In the Valley, finish the Sliding and Flying Races, the Colosseum, the Village of Dreams, and Hermit’s Valley.
  • Golden Wasteland & Vault of Knowledge: Clear the Broken Temple, Graveyard, Shipwreck, Battlefield, Forgotten Ark, and Treasure Reef diving areas. In the Vault, collect lights across all vertical floors, the Starlight Desert, and the Repository of Archives.
  • Eye of Eden: Collect every child along the ascent route prior to crossing the Point of No Return.

2. Trials and Shard Memories

High-difficulty challenge areas and seasonal rotations supply crucial standalone lights:

Challenge / SourceLocation or RequirementLight Yield
Trial of WaterCave of Prophecy (Isle of Dawn)1 Winged Light
Trial of EarthCave of Prophecy (Isle of Dawn)1 Winged Light
Trial of AirCave of Prophecy (Isle of Dawn)1 Winged Light
Trial of FireCave of Prophecy (Isle of Dawn)1 Winged Light
Shard Eruption MemoriesClear Red Shard events across rotating realmsUp to 6 Winged Lights

While reaching 250 lights is possible without the six Shard Void Memory lights if you have unlocked enough past spirit buffs, collecting them lowers the number of Traveling Spirits you need to wait for.

3. Permanent Wing Buffs from Spirits

The remainder of the 250 total must come from permanent Wing Buffs unlocked on spirit friendship trees using Ascended Candles (AC):

  • Regular Constellation Spirits: Unlock the Wing Buff padlocks on base realm spirits. Several standard spirits feature a second tier that offers an additional buff.
  • Traveling Spirits: Every bi-weekly Traveling Spirit visiting Home or Aviary Village offers a Wing Buff lock costing two Ascended Candles. Systematically purchasing these locks is necessary to accumulate enough buffs for the 250 threshold.

Unlocked Wing Buffs are awarded permanently upon reincarnating through the Orbit gate after completing a run through the Eye of Eden.

Maintaining the 13th Wedge

Because 250 is the exact minimum required for the 13th wedge, losing a single Winged Light drops your flight meter back down to 12 wedges immediately.

  • Avoid High-Risk Hazards: Dark Dragon attacks in the Golden Wasteland knock loose three to four lights per strike.
  • Carry Recharge Props: Keep a light-recharging prop equipped—such as a torch or brazier—when exploring rain zones in the Hidden Forest or murky water in the Wasteland.
  • Recovering Lost Lights: If you lose light from damage, retrieve the floating golden stars before they shatter. If a shattered light belonged to a permanent Wing Buff rather than a world child, you must complete another Eden run to reclaim it at the Orbit gate.
