To unlock a map shrine in Sky: Children of the Light, approach the stone altar, ignite its white candle, and sit to meditate. Once activated, the shrine permanently disperses the cloud fog covering that sub-zone on your world map tablet and reveals glowing star indicators wherever uncollected Winged Light (Children of Light) remains.
Because map shrines save permanently across your account, you only need to interact with each shrine once. Activating them turns your map into a direct tracking tool for locating missing stars, especially after completing an Eye of Eden run or losing light to Dark Dragons.

How Map Shrines Work
Interacting with a map shrine triggers a short meditation animation followed by an unfolding parchment map. Each altar records the specific zone surrounding it:
- Fog Removal: Unlocks the visual layout and boundaries of that region on the world map.
- Winged Light Detection: Marks uncollected Children of Light within that zone using glowing pinpoints. When all Winged Light in an area has been collected, the glowing indicator disappears.
- Account-Wide Progress: Visiting a shrine once registers it permanently, meaning shrines do not reset during daily quest rollovers or after rebirth.

Map Shrine Locations by Realm
Isle of Dawn
The Isle of Dawn contains five map shrines:
- Arrival Beach: Immediately to the left of the introductory sand dunes upon landing.
- Spirit Cavern: Near the small cave entrance that houses the Pointing Candlemaker spirit.
- Temple Approach: At the base of the massive stone stairway leading up to the temple.
- Cave of Prophecy: At the entrance base leading into the trial chambers.
- Prairie Transition: On the upper exit steps heading toward the Daylight Prairie cloud tunnel.
Daylight Prairie
Daylight Prairie contains nine map shrines distributed across its main path and side realms:
| Zone | Shrine Location |
|---|---|
| Prairie Social Space | Next to the dressing stones beside the cloud drop-off platform. |
| Butterfly Fields | Inside the hollow rock mound beneath the central elevated formation. |
| Prairie Caves | Submerged near the rear pool inside the cavern (requires spirit gate access). |
| Bird Nest | On the lower plateau of the floating islands before the sanctuary gate. |
| Sanctuary Islands | On the grassy rise overlooking the central geyser and manta beach. |
| Prairie Temple | Outside on the lower-left courtyard patio before entering the interior hall. |
Hidden Forest
Hidden Forest shrines sit throughout rain-soaked areas that steadily drain cape energy:
- Forest Clearing: Next to the social pavilion before diving through the first cloud tunnel.
- Forest Gates: Inside the rain area, located near the main gatehouse walls.
- Forest Brook: Along the riverbed running beneath the elevated hollow trees.
- Boneyard (Elevated Clearing): In the clearing alongside the large skeletal ruins and tree tunnels.
- Underground Cavern: At the center of the bioluminescent mushroom plateau, reached via the two-player stomp barrier or the hollow tree drop.
Valley of Triumph
Valley shrines are placed along downhill racing routes and secondary village hubs:
- Valley Social Space: Along the right cliff edge before the main slide.
- Ice Rink: Placed directly on the central frozen lake before the race course splits.
- Colosseum: Along the elevated spectator stands near the arena's entrance archway.
- Village of Dreams: Situated near the frozen village pond, with another beside the theater entrance.
- Hermit Valley: High on the snowy hillside adjacent to the hermit's cabin.
Golden Wasteland
Due to patrolling Dark Dragons (Krill) and hazardous dark water, approach Wasteland shrines carefully:
- Broken Temple: Near the broken pillar in the starting dunes, with another hidden behind the broken wall near the collapsed guard tower.
- Graveyard: Shielded under a stone overhang along the right wall to stay out of overlapping Krill search paths.
- Shipwreck (Crab Field): Positioned on the elevated hull deck of the ruined industrial cargo ship.
- Battlefield: Resting on the exterior steps leading to the large temple gate mechanism.
- Forgotten Ark: Adjacent to the alchemist shop platform in the dry desert basin.
- Treasure Reef: Set on the coastal island cliffs before entering the underwater dive zones.
Vault of Knowledge
Vault shrines are spread across vertical elevator tiers and side chambers:
- Ground Floor: Near the four-player telekinesis door.
- Archive Maze: Located within the side archive wing accessible from the ground floor.
- Third Floor: On the floating pagoda platform.
- Fourth Floor: Among the constellation platforms near the higher spirit memories.
- Summit: Outside the final chamber before the Elder meditation ring.
Eye of Eden, Aviary Village, and Connected Hubs
- Eye of Eden: One shrine sits in the staging corridor behind the storm doors, a second rests in the sheltered hallway before the high-wind pipe segment, and a third is positioned at the point-of-no-return gate prior to the final statue sacrifice field.
- Aviary Village: Found along the entry waterway, near the cafe terrace, and beside the corridor leading toward the music hall.
- Seasonal Hubs: Check individual entry portals and side realmsβincluding the Starlight Desert in the Vault of Knowledge and the Wind Paths connected to the Hidden Forestβto clear any remaining blank panels on your map tablet.

Safety and Survival Tips
- Bring a Recharge Prop: Meditation takes several seconds. Placing a campfire, torch, or brazier beside shrines in the Hidden Forest or dark zones prevents losing Winged Light to rain or dark water while the map interface loads.
- Watch Krill Patrol Timers: In the Golden Wasteland Graveyard and Battlefield, wait until a Krill's blue search beam swings away from the altar before lighting the candle.
- Cancel the Animation Quickly: Once the map unrolls and the zone records, tap the screen or press your cancel button immediately to close the parchment view and regain character control in hazardous areas.
