You take the role of a Duelist working toward the top of the online rankings, beginning with lessons, missions, and beginner-friendly tools before testing your choices against computer-controlled opponents and players around the world. The rules and controls are designed to be easy to learn, and the game can indicate when one of your cards can be activated, giving new players useful guidance while they learn how individual cards and Duel techniques work. Duel Quizzes introduce the basics and can reward you with Gems, while Auto-Build Deck lets you select cards you want to use and fills out the rest of the Deck with cards intended to work alongside them. If you are still learning how your Deck operates, Auto-Duel provides another way to observe or handle a match before taking full control yourself.

The main progression loop connects collection, Deck editing, missions, and competition. Completing in-game missions and Stage missions provides items, while early rewards include Gems and Card Exchange Tickets that help expand your options. You can shop for cards in the game store, collect new additions, and repeatedly edit your Deck as you learn which cards and combinations suit your approach. Offline Battles let you duel favorite characters from across the Yu-Gi-Oh! series, and completing certain missions unlocks characters you can play as, including Yami Yugi, Seto Kaiba, Jaden Yuki, Yusei Fudo, Yuma Tsukumo, Yuya Sakaki, Playmaker, Yuga Ohdo, and Yudias Velgear. Keyboard-and-mouse input also suits the game’s repeated menu and selection work: you can move through Deck-editing screens, choose cards, check the available options during a Duel, and manage mission or reward menus with precise pointer control. A larger view is helpful in online Ranked Duels as well, where reading the board and the game’s indications clearly can make it easier to understand the current situation before committing to a play. Ranked Duels match you with Duelists close to your skill level, providing a measured route from practice to serious PvP, while battles against players worldwide offer a broader test of your collected cards and Deck decisions. With beginner support, offline character battles, card collection, mission rewards, and competitive online play all feeding into the same Deck-building loop, Yu-Gi-Oh!
